Energy Camp


Choctaw Electric Cooperative selects three eighth-grade students to attend the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperative's YouthPower Energy Camp, four-day summer camp!

YouthPower Energy camp is designed to help develop leadership skills, have summertime fun, and at the same time learn about one of rural America's most important industries - rural electrification.


The students that are selected will enjoy several days at Red Rock Canyon (near Hinton , OK). Activities include: Pizza parties, dances, volleyball, hiking, swimming, basketball, football and games. You'll experience first-hand the exciting world of rural electric cooperatives.


  1. Student MUST be an eighth-grade student attending a school in the CEC coverage area.
  2. Required to write a 200-250-word essay on the topic: 
    • ​​​How can I be a leader in my community?
  3. Essays are to be legible or typed & double spaced
  4. Entry form attached to essay.
  5. Essays will be judged outside of CEC County offices
  6. Judging will be based on: Originality and Creativeness-60%, Composition and Grammar-20%, Neatness -10%, Spelling -10%
  7. Deadline for essays to be turned in to CEC will be:  
    • 5:00pm Friday, March 2, 2018.
